Palmwoods – Eudlo Wet weather ride
Ride report Wet Weather alternative ride #2
Palmwoods Eudlo Back country highlands tour. 16/2/2020
Cabin fever (also called stir-crazy, from the use of stir to mean ‘prison’) is a claustrophobic reaction, manifested as extreme irritability and restlessness, that takes place when a person or group ends up in an isolated or solitary location, or stuck indoors in confined quarters for an extended period of time.
And so it was, with record rainfall in some areas of the sunshine coast a serious effort was needed to save our sanity from the conditions. The Big Guns John and Wayne were called into scope a suitable ride, and they certainly delivered mapping out a sensational ride like no other ridden before, thanks.
Gathering at the Palmwoods Hotel 19 riders headed west out along Upper Landershute road “Pedal to the metal” from bitumen to dirt the eager throng cut through the back way ending up in the musty sodden town of Eudlo which looked like it’d been half under water
.
Regrouped and heading into unmarked territory past confused farm animals not knowing what they had seen, this is where the hills started to rise and rise again spreading Bushrangers out in a trail of sweat as we climbed to the intersection where “Chenrezig Buddhist institute” is, no visit today just a colourful group photo of the hill tribe champions at the top.
Feeling enlighted enough from lack of oxygen and water loss from the behemoth climbs we headed along the dirt ridge line of Neill rd, Before what can only be described as an almost unrideable (by Most) section of bitumen into Mossy Bank rd followed some tight loose down hill sections of gravel road, needing seat to backside gripping stealth to maintain control
.
A real gem of an eroded link track joined the team back into Eudlo, then a roundabout way east/west back into Palmwoods finished off what in the future is a great Wet Weather ride option. Thanks John and Wayne.
Cocoa Tree Café Palmwoods was the chosen place for RnR with great coffee and eats, plus a lizard on the side eating crumbs.
Wayne and Helen have kindly offered to do a trip to WA Kimberly’s to scope some future wet weather rides, thanks have a safe and enjoyable trip guys.
Great riding by everyone, well done. PHOTOS TELL THE STORY.
